It is with great pleasure and utmost pride that I extend my warmest greetings to all members of the Rajendra University (RU) community Balangir. Strategically located, Balangir serves as a bridge between coastal and western parts of the state, embodying a blend of tradition and progress — a district where heritage meets aspiration. Balangir, a prominent district in Western Odisha, has emerged as an important educational hub in the region, particularly in the field of higher education. I am committed to the growth of the district’s academic landscape as it is anchored by Rajendra University, Balangir, recognized by the UGC as a State Public University.
The University traces its roots to an Intermediate College established in 1944 by Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Singhdeo, the former ruler of Patna State and a former Chief Minister of Odisha. The institution was upgraded to a Degree College in 1946 and attained autonomous status on 1st April 2002. Owing to its sustained commitment to academic excellence and a progressive learning environment, it was elevated to the status of a University on 1st September, 2020. As the Vice Chancellor of RU, I am honoured to lead an institution that is dedicated to empowering minds and transforming lives through higher education and spread across more than 50 acres of lush greenery. The University operates under the administrative control of the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha, and exercises jurisdiction over colleges in Balangir and Subarnapur districts. We are committed to offering a wide range of academic programs that are designed to meet the needs of a diverse student body and prepare them for success in their chosen fields, offering programs in Arts, Science, Commerce, Teacher Education, and professional courses like BBA and BCA.
At RU, our mission is to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where students can thrive academically, personally, and professionally. Our faculty members, who are experts in their respective fields, are dedicated to providing high-quality education and mentorship to our students. Through innovative teaching methods and hands-on learning experiences, they inspire students to think critically, embrace creativity, and strive for excellence in all their endeavours.
