The Department of Economics of Rajendra University, erstwhile Rajendra College (Autonomous) was started in 1984-85. Since then, the Department has been dedicated to promoting the most exemplary teaching and research avenues in Economics. It offers Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, and Ph.D. programs in Economics, and its allied subjects. The course structure maintains a balance between theoretical and applied economic analysis focusing on emerging macroeconomics issues, international trade and finance, inclusive finance, issues on Socio-economic development, and agricultural economics.

The Department also encourages students to be equipped with the knowledge to face the current challenges of the Indian and world economy. The faculty members have made valuable contributions in the major fields of economic research and published research papers in both national and international journals of repute. They are also engaged with major state government-funded projects.
